Imperial Bank goes Visa with Electracard, from Technology Associates Kenya.
Imperial Bank is a leading private sector banking institution in Kenya focusing on key sectors of the corporate market. With the changes in the Kenyan banking industry, the bank wished to launch an international card product for their customer base. With significant planning and investment around the business model, the bank commissioned a strong team of card consultants and established a state-of-the art card centre. The consulting team formed an elite group of card experts who had impressive tenures at the country’s leading issuers and acquirers of Visa card products.
Through an elaborate RFP, the bank solicited bids from globally reputed Card management vendors and undertook comprehensive evaluation, product walk-throughs as well as sought references from global users of the systems from vendors such as CR2, CTL and Cardpro. Technology Associates Kenya were awarded the coveted deal, to implement the Opus ElectraCard card management system on a turnkey basis.
Imperial Bank are Associate Visa members and will connect to Visanet through the Co-op Bank VAP gateway. Upon a significantly exhaustive implementation schedule, Imperial Bank launched their Visa Gold, Visa Classic and Visa electron cards in mid-February 2005. The projects saw through various challenges with the connectivity through the Principle member’s VAP, Visa certifications as well as an intrinsic array of local customisations required on the Electracard system to suit the bank’s business.
Technology Associates Kenya is proud to be associated with Imperial Bank and congratulate them on their successful launch.
